North Tahoe Water Shuttle

North Lake Tahoe Express

The North Lake Tahoe Express operates three routes connecting North Shore Placer County, via State Route 89; North Shore Washoe County, via State Route 431; and Truckee, via State Route 267, with the Reno-Tahoe International Airport.

Reservations and Fares
You can make a reservation by clicking here. Please call 866.216.5222 instead if you'll need the shuttle in 12 hours or less.

Fares (subject to change) are published on the North Lake Tahoe Express website. Reservations are required to guarantee availability. Cancellations must be made at least 24 hours in advance.

Dates, Days and Hours
Year-round, seven days a week, generally between 3:30 am and midnight.

This shuttle service is funded in part by Placer County, Washoe County, North Lake Tahoe Resort Association, the Tahoe Transportation District, Truckee North Tahoe Transportation Management Association, The Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe, Cal Neva Resort and Spa, Tahoe Biltmore, the Crystal Bay-Incline Village Convention and Visitors Bureau, Incline Village General Improvement District and the Truckee-Tahoe Airport.

Operational authority provided by the Tahoe Transportation District.

Airport Mini Bus operates the transit service under contract to the Tahoe Transportation District.

Tahoe Area Regional Transit

To receive a schedule in the mail, or for help planning your trip, please call TART at (530) 550-1212 or (800) 736-6365. TART buses operate seven days a week, except Christmas day.

Year 'Round Bus Routes

TART's Mainline Route transports riders along 30 miles of Lake Tahoe shoreline including the communities of Tahoma, Homewood, Tahoe City, Kings Beach and Incline Village. The Hwy. 89 Route provides service between Tahoe City and Truckee, including stops in Squaw Valley. Transfer between these two routes at the Tahoe City "Y."

Seasonal Bus Routes

The Hwy. 267 Route operates during the winter and summer seasons only. In the winter, service is provided between Truckee and Crystal Bay. Stops include the Truckee Airport, Northstar and Kings Beach. This route connects with the TART Mainline Route in Crystal Bay or the Hwy 89 Route in Truckee. In the summer, the Hwy. 267 Route operates between Northstar Village and Crystal Bay with stops in Kings Beach. Also in the summer, service is increased from hourly to every 30 minutes on the Mainline Route on the North Shore between Tahoe City and Crystal Bay.

Night Rider

Night Rider provides FREE transportation for North Shore residents after TART service hours on summer and winter evenings. There are three routes: Squaw Valley to Stateline, via State Routes 89 and 28; Northstar-At-Tahoe to Stateline, via Kings Beach and State Routes 267 and 28; and Tahoma to Tahoe City via State Route 89.

Bicycle Transport

Vehicles are equipped with front-mounted racks that hold two to three bicycles. Passengers use bicycle racks at their own risk. Bikes are not allowed in the shuttles. All vehicles can accommodate two wheelchairs.

This service is funded by the North Lake Tahoe Resort Association and managed by the Truckee-North Tahoe Transportation Association (TNT-TMA) with operational authority provided by the Tahoe Transportation District (TTD).

Airport Mini Bus operates the Night Rider service under contract to the TTD.

North Lake Tahoe Water Shuttle

The North Lake Tahoe Water Shuttle can carry up to 12 passengers and crew, and up to 8 bicycles. It is a 30-foot, state-of-the-art boat manufactured and operated by Fine Line Industries.


West Shore Café & Inn and Obexer's Marina in Homewood, the Tahoe City Marina, Gar Woods Grill & Pier in Carnelian Bay and Captain Jon's in Tahoe Vista.
