What is Title VI?
Title VI of the 1964 Civil Rights Act says, “No person in the United States shall, on the grounds of race, color or national origin, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefit of, or be subjected to discrimination under any program or activity receiving federal financial assistance.” 42 U.S.C.§2000d
Title VI Program
As a recipient and sub-recipient of federal financial assistance, the TTD is responsible for the effective execution of nondiscrimination laws and regulations.
The purpose of the Plan is to describe how TTD will develop and implement the Title VI Program. Its intent is to identify the steps taken and will take to ensure that, for all programs and activities supported by federal financial assistance, the TTD provides services without excluding or discriminating on the grounds of race, color or national origin, or creating additional barriers to accessing services and activities.
Making a Title VI Complaint
If you believe TTD has denied you access, benefits or excluded you from participation on TTD services because of your race, color, national origin, sex, age, disability or socioeconomic status, you may file a complaint with the TTD. Any such complaint must be in writing and filed with TTD within 180 days following the date of the alleged act of discrimination.
